If you are currently enrolled as a LMU student, you may enroll in an LMU Institutional Review Board (IRB) approved study that seeks to investigate the efficacy of a cell phone app to deliver counseling and therapy.
If you are enrolled in Psyc 1000, three units of Subject Pool credit is available.
You will receive free, confidential personal counseling provided by a licensed therapist for 5 weeks. In addition, for another 5 weeks, you will engage in an online forum with professionals, and other cell phone app participants, to explore personal growth and mental health issues. This study will require a minimum of about 4 - 5 hours (total) of your time spread over a 10 week period during the semester.
Other requirements for the study:
You must not be receiving care from another therapist or psychiatrist
The app is a preventative care focused model and not meant to treat severe mental illness and so a prior diagnosis of mental illness could exclude you from the study
Download OOTify And Book a Session
We will give you a list of therapists you can book time with. You book right through the app. You get push notifications and email reminders to do your session right from the app. You can connect via audio, video or messaging.
Do Your Therapy Sessions and Assessments
You get to see the same therapist 5 times for free. If you want to see them after the study, we can arrange that for a discounted rate. No problem. Before or after the sessions, you will be prompted to complete some assessments.
Do Some Posting On a Community Forum
On the website (ootify.com/thefabric), you do one post and one comment related to mental health on a community forum. This is always free for students. Before or after the forum engagement, you will be prompted to complete some assessments.
