In one of my kids' Frozen themed story books Olaf the snowman has a great quote about Princess Anna: "You know, Queen Elsa has all kinds of magic, but it still took Princess Anna to show her how to unfreeze Arendelle. And Anna doesn't have any powers - except that she never gives up and she has a big heart." (for those of you who do not have kids or are unfamiliar with the movie Frozen, Kristen Bell voices the character of Princess Anna)
Since I first read this quote I have loved it and tried to make a big deal about it when I read it to my kids. Anna is all kinds of normal and imperfect and despite that, she is the hero of the story. She succeeds because of her big heart and her grit! I think this is a great lesson to teach our kids as well as our clients. And while we're at it, it wouldn't hurt to start accepting ourselves for all of our beautiful imperfections and incorporating a little more grit and heart into our own lives.
