For my first post on The Fabric, I want to share a link to a TED Talk that I was shown in one of my classes last week. It focuses on the science of happiness, and why even people with the most privileged lives can feel like their happiness level is insatiable. I find this phenomenon to be particularly relevant for college students; college students are lucky enough to be exposed to wonderful opportunities and inspiring content at every turn, and yet their mental health may still be suffering due to the pressure and internal urge to continuously exceed their previous accomplishments. Within this video, Shawn Anchor explains how and why we should reverse the current accepted formula for happiness and success by raising our happiness levels in the present. Furthermore, he explains how doing so will ultimately enhance optimal brain performance. All very fascinating and useful information! I hope you find it interesting as well!
