There was once a time when I was treading the waters of addiction and found myself about to go under. Even though I had all my friends and family trying to help, I still felt all alone. Being so close, watching me struggle, they could do nothing to help. The help I needed had to be from a complete stranger who had overcome a similar struggle.
My life line was in the form of a phone number on the back of a sticky note. It had been in my possession for quite some time. I had run my life completely into the ground before I made a decision to pick up the phone and call the number. Making that call was the best decision I've ever made and probably saved my life.
Thank you for sharing. Your story is inspiring.
Powerful. There are so many people out there that feel that loneliness as you did. Its important to remember what that phone number did for you, so you can be that life line to others when they need it. Imagine how that person on the other end of that phone call felt when they knew that they were helping you get through it all. I imagine it helped them as well. We often times forget that giving back to others can help ourselves just as much.
