About two years ago, I met a spiritual teacher during a rough patch in my life who introduced me to the idea of the Power of One. We are all of one energy, and inherently all from and of the same source (spiritually and scientifically). By tapping into our unity, we open our hearts to become more compassionate beings to ourselves and others. And we do not know what the upper limit to the good we can achieve is with regard to consistently tapping into this power. It unlocks the magic of spontaneous, heartfelt kindness. The power of one compliment to a stranger, one embrace of a hurting loved one, one smile, one genuine word of kindness; oftentimes just one small gesture can set in motion a big change in someone's life.
We think social enhancement requires some extraordinary series of events that will change the world. We forgot that every small act we engage in is in itself world-changing, for every action has a consequence and a ripple effect. By realizing the Power of One more often, we can more consciously and consistently engage in social enhancement in our everyday lives and make big, positive change in small ways.
