Have you had the experience, when faced with work or a project, of removing time from the equation, and noticing that stress disappears, as well?
Oftentimes, the pressure that we feel to complete a project or reach a goal, is illusory, imposed by our race against time. When you're next feeling pressed, notice whether it's because you (or someone else) has imposed an unrelated time constraint.
Is it necessary? Realistic? Aligned with the mission and outcome? Ask instead, what matters most right now? Focus on that one thing. Did it flow?
Removing time as a factor from the equation gives us the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the activity, give it our complete attention, and enjoy it. And usually, it gets done more quickly, too!
Please let me know your thoughts!
I feel this so much. Having to manage my own time much more, as a freelancer, I found myself first floundering in stress over time management. While those deadlines are very real, the time in between is much more open. I don't HAVE to finish something by 5 pm to show someone else. I can spend the time I need to get it right, as long as I still manage the end deadline. Still learning as I go, however. #WIP
